To add more value to the listings, I decide to include traffic and valuation data.

The traffic and valuation columns are estimates that come from Godaddy.

The reason is because it is against Google’s TOS to obtain PageRank information in an automated fashion. One thing I don’t want is for Google to flag the site.

Should Google decide to make publicly available some type of webservice or API that allows access to PageRank data, I will definitely consider listing the information again.

My plan is to put other helpful information in the listing instead. I plan on doing this within the next 30 days or so.

As I have said before, you can easily spoof a PageRank by performing a simple redirect to a site with a high PageRank. Google’s info search will tell you if that is happening on a domain.

Anyway, I decided to add another link on the free expired domain list page. All you have to do is click “Google Info” for any domain which will help you verify a domain’s authenticity.

I think the best 3 directory websites in order are dmoz.org, dir.yahoo.com, and botw.org. It seems like all you have to do to get accepted into dir.yahoo.com and botw.org is just pay money. However, dmoz.org is a lot harder to be accepted into. Lately, it seems like everyone who applies gets turned down. I think the easiest way to get a site into dmoz is by purchasing an expired domain that is already in the directory.

Rather, it is the PageRank of a domain that is the result of a 301 redirect.

This can be a black-hat technique. Someone could assume a high PageRank through a redirection and then offer link exchanges to have their link added to real PageRank sites. To make this method even more effective, one could perform the redirect only when a google bot is detected and display their own content otherwise. This is known as cloaking. There are other types of cloaking as well.
